Question
What steps is the Welsh Government taking to expand the provision of intensive community, day, and specialist inpatient treatment for eating disorders across Wales, for all age groups?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Royal College of Psychiatrists, NHS Wales and the third sector are working together to consider the landscape of eating disorder services across Wales. This will be used to undertake a modelling exercise to assess capacity and demand and consider newer and emerging service models, including day services.
Our long-term aim is to provide early intervention to prevent the need for escalation to more specialist services.
The development of a prioritised capital and estates plan is a key action in the first delivery plan of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
