Questions to the First Minister
I understand the separation of powers, and that's important, vitally important in a democracy. But, as you highlighted, the legislation was passed by this Senedd to raise revenue for public services. We heard Ministers all the time saying that's what this…

Questions to the First Minister
I think most people would be troubled to not understand why the Government isn't driving this and putting a timeline on this investigation. That's not unreasonable here, because residents have had to put up with being physically sick because the stench is so…

Questions to the First Minister
Thank you, Presiding Officer. First Minister, on Friday, Dispatches, a Channel 4 investigative programme, put a programme out that uncovered some deeply troubling aspects of the Withyhedge tipping site in west Wales. They had insider information given to them…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Chepstow bypass
Would the Member agree with me that it's vitally important that the incumbent Member of Parliament, David T.C. Davies, is returned after this election, so that Chepstow doesn't grind to a halt, after the rhetoric we've heard from the Labour side, and David…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Chepstow bypass
Would the Member take an intervention?
18 June 2024Plenary
Questions to the First Minister
You don't half talk a load of cobblers, First Minister. First Minister, a manifesto is about a pledge that the party puts before the people. A simple commitment that you could make via the manifesto would be to commit to the electrification of the north Wales…

Questions to the First Minister
This is very off-putting, Deputy Presiding Officer. Thank you very much for reprimanding the Members. In all seriousness, First Minister, that is a project that economically could be transformational for north Wales, yet your manifesto is silent on that…

Questions to the First Minister
Clearly, you could not give a commitment about electrification of the north Wales line there. Your omission and your inability to do that was evident for all to see. In our manifesto, we have committed to electrify the north Wales line, we have committed to…

Questions to the First Minister
Thank you, Presiding Officer. First Minister, I've looked at the national Labour manifesto—it keeps insomniacs awake, I might add—but it doesn't have any commitments in it to the electrification of the north Wales line. Why can you not find one single word…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Economic policy
I'm grateful to the Minister for taking an intervention. Can you name a western European country that hasn't suffered comparable inflation, comparable interest rates or worse unemployment than the United Kingdom? If you can't, then, obviously, that indicates…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Economic policy
Will you take an intervention?

Questions to the First Minister
On the example you gave, I believe Standing Orders indicate that if you're out of the country you can't vote anyway, you can't, then, so you couldn't have voted in that vote anyway, so that's a very poor example to use. But it is a fact that there were three…

Questions to the First Minister
First Minister, last week you went from this Chamber and gave an interview. You questioned me in that interview—the time that I took off for my illness. I was told at one point in that illness to put my affairs in order, First Minister. Your deputy also…

Questions to the First Minister
Thank you, Presiding Officer. Last week, First Minister, there was a vote on the floor of the Senedd. Various colleagues of yours and, indeed, your good self, have called it a 'gimmick', a 'stunt' and an 'odd question to ask'. But the expression of the Senedd…

Plaid Cymru Debate: HS2 funding
I'm very grateful. The metro is co-funded with the UK Government. Will you acknowledge that point? Because it's via the city deal, and I think it's nearly 50 per cent of the money that comes from the UK Government.

Welsh Conservatives Debate: The First Minister
That is not a gimmick. This was talked of prior to the general election, and I heard what the Member for Swansea East said. One thing we did see on those iMessages was the disparaging remarks that were made about the Member for Swansea East, and using the…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: The First Minister
The first point about judgment is the judgment call that the First Minister took to accept a record-breaking donation of £200,000 to his leadership campaign from an individual and company that has two environmental convictions to its name, and is, as we…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: The First Minister
Thank you, Presiding Officer, and I move the motion on the order paper in the name of Darren Millar, addressing the vote of confidence in the First Minister. And I want to highlight that this debate is not about the Welsh Government in its entirety; it's not…

Questions to the First Minister
Not on an individual basis, First Minister. The largest individual donation was to your leadership campaign as an individual. You have received £200,000. Now, it's not unreasonable to assume that due diligence was undertaken given such a major donation was…

Questions to the First Minister
So, I take it from your answer that you did not know until the point was put to you by the BBC last week. I think I infer that from your answer. So, that leads on to the point where you've said that due diligence was undertaken on all donors to your campaign…

Questions to the First Minister
Thank you, Presiding Officer. First Minister, yesterday, the BBC broadcast a programme called A Big Stink. You had to feel sympathy and empathy for the poor people of Withyhedge who are suffering the smells and odours that are coming from that tip. You took…

Topical Questions
Clearly, it doesn't seem to have got an idea of where it wants to go. Ultimately, this should have been dealt with by the First Minister to outline and give us confidence that he knows where he wants this Government to go. So, can you as leader of the house…
