What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with Cadw to ensure the maintenance, protection and accessibility of historic buildings such as Dinas Powys Castle, which are in private ownership?

I have regular engagement with Cadw on the protection, maintenance and accessibility of historic buildings and monuments across Wales. Cadw works proactively with owners of historic assets, including those in private ownership, and is always willing to meet to provide expert advice on conservation, management and, where appropriate, opportunities to improve access. A wide range of guidance on good and best practice in caring for historic buildings and scheduled monuments is also published on the Cadw website.
Dinas Powys Castle is a scheduled monument of national importance in private ownership with no public right of access. While the condition of the monument is currently poor, Cadw officials have been in contact with the owner and provided advice and support on its appropriate management and long‑term conservation, with the aim of safeguarding it for future generations.
