Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm what progress has been made in the roll-out of electronic prescribing?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Excellent progress has been made to roll-out electronic prescribing in Wales.
In primary care, the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is currently available in 629 (92%) community pharmacies and 175 (47%) general practices. To date, more than 17.8m prescriptions have been dispensed using EPS with 1.9m prescriptions dispensed in January 2026 alone – which is equivalent to more than one in five.
Plans are in place to ensure every GP practice and pharmacy in Wales are able to operate EPS by November of this year.
An electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system has been deployed across all hospital sites in Betsi Cadwaladr, Cardiff and Vale and Swansea Bay university health boards. All other health boards and Velindre University NHS Trust have selected their preferred ePMA supplier and will begin roll out this year.
