1. Introductions, apologies, substitutions, and declarations of interest
Good morning and welcome, Members and the public, today to the first meeting of the Early Years, Children, Young People and Education Committee of the seventh Senedd—it's wonderful to be with you all today.
So, the first item that we have on our agenda today is introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest. Just to note, please, that the public items of today's meeting are being broadcast live on Senedd.tv, and a record of proceedings will be published, as is customary. The meeting is entirely bilingual and there is simultaneous interpretation available from Welsh to English. We've received two apologies this morning, from Lis McLean and Claire Johnson-Wood. Are there any declarations of interest from Members, please? I see that there are none. Excellent, thank you very much.
2. Early Years, Children, Young People and Education Committee: Remit of the Committee
So, we move on now to item 2. Moving swiftly on to item 2, this is for us to look at our remit as a committee. So, our remit is deliberately wide-ranging, and that's very important to mention, that—. The Business Committee—. You'll see in the paper that we have before us, paragraph 7 of the paper, that they've allocated that the remit should be a wide-ranging one. That's deliberate, so that we can consider a wide range of topics as part of our committee work. So, our remit encompasses early years, education, including the Welsh language in education, skills, children's health and well-being, including their social care and healthcare.
