Question
Further to WQ98900, will the Cabinet Minister provide an update on what the Welsh Government is doing to ensure that new direct train services will be delivered between west Wales and Bristol?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Transport (Mark Hooper)
We remain in regular contact with the Office of Rail and Road as it concludes its consideration of the proposal, and we expect an update imminently. We look forward to seeing the benefits this new cross-border connection could bring to passengers and businesses on both sides of the Severn. In anticipation of the necessary approvals, Transport for Wales has been undertaking operational preparations to ensure the service can be introduced on the proposed start date of 14 December.
