Question
What is the Welsh Government doing to reduce the amount of NHS surplus items that end up in landfill?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The NHS Wales Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan 2025 to 2030 expects NHS organisations to reduce waste, use resources more efficiently and support circular economy principles. This includes ordering only what is needed, reusing surplus items where safe and appropriate, and recycling more to reduce material sent to landfill.
