Question
Will the Welsh Government address access for disabled children and young people with complex needs in their updated youth work in Wales framework?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education (Cefin Campbell)
The new statutory framework for youth work, introduced in March 2026, requires every local authority to set out how they will tackle inequalities as part of a five-year strategic plan for youth work services.
The Welsh Government is currently considering draft local authority plans for the 2027- 32 period.
I will not approve plans that do not clearly demonstrate how they will address barriers to accessing youth work provision for disabled children and young people with complex needs.
