Question
Has the Cabinet Minister sanctioned the dismissal of any chief executive officers of Welsh local health boards since May 2026 through the chief executive officer of NHS Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
NHS chief executives are employees of their respective organisations. Matters relating to their employment are the responsibility of their Boards and employing organisations. As was the case under the previous Labour administration, neither Welsh Ministers nor Welsh Government officials have powers to intervene in NHS employment matters.
Therefore, the answer to your questions is no.
