Question
Further to WQ98835, what consideration has the First Minister given to how making St David's Day a Wales-specific bank holiday would affect people who live in Wales and work in England, and vice versa?
Answer
Answered by First Minister (Rhun ap Iorwerth)
I am committed to seeking the powers to make St David’s Day a public holiday for Wales. Scotland has long enjoyed its own schedule of public holidays that is distinct from the other nations of the UK. While this issue has not been explored further by the new government, I see no reason in principle why similar arrangements could not be introduced for Wales.
