Question
Does the Welsh Government encourage teachers to promote their chosen pronouns to pupils in classroom settings?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language (Anna Brychan)
The Welsh Government wants all children and young people in Wales to believe they can achieve their very best, and creating a supportive environment is an important way to help all children succeed.
I recognise that schools need guidance which provides advice for practitioners about the best way they can support trans learners in school. This guidance has been developed and includes advice for teachers around pronoun use. The draft guidance is currently being reviewed, a timetable for consultation will be shared in due course.
