Question
What is the annual administrative cost to the Welsh Government of deducting trade union subscriptions from staff salaries through payroll, and is this cost recovered from the trade unions concerned?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Government Effectiveness & the Constitution (Dafydd Trystan Davies)
The Welsh Government facilitates the deduction of some trade union subscriptions through payroll arrangements but does not hold a separately identified annual administrative cost as this is part of business-as-usual payroll activity. No costs are recovered from the trade unions.
