Our previous petition and campaigning on this issue saw the Welsh Government commit to consider mandatory microchipping in it's published Animal Welfare Plan for Wales 2021-26. This has not happened.
Microchipping is part of responsible pet ownership and has countless benefits for both cat and owner. If a persons cat Becomes lost, stolen or gets injured, a microchip is the best chance for reunification, and microchips ease strain on rescue centres.

Mae microsglodynnu yn rhan o fod yn berchennog cyfrifol ar anifeiliaid anwes, ac mae’n arwain at fuddion helaeth i gathod a’u perchnogion. Os bydd cath rhywun yn mynd ar goll, yn cael ei dwyn neu'n cael ei hanafu, bydd microsglodyn yn gwella’r tebygrwydd o ddod â nhw yn ôl at ei gilydd, ac yn llacio’r straen ar ganolfannau achub.
