Welsh Conservatives Debate: Nuclear
As I say, I won't be supporting a motion that conflates nuclear energy with weapons and which backs the spending of £200 billion on nuclear weapons. I just don't think that should be the priority in terms of defence spending, or, crucially, a priority when we…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Nuclear
Carry on.

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Nuclear
The motion itself actually starts okay, talking about the economic benefits of nuclear energy projects. It's a principle that's been important to me, of course, in my years of supporting the development of the Wylfa Newydd project, before the Conservatives…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: Nuclear
Diolch yn fawr, Llywydd. Not to school Janet Finch-Saunders, but just to make it very, very clear, and in fact what Liz Saville-Roberts said in that interview, Plaid Cymru's policy, quite right, is no new nuclear sites except Wylfa and Trawsfynydd, which are…

Business Statement and Announcement
I would like to request a statement from the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language regarding the situation of the Mona Dairy site in my constituency, following the announcement that the company has been placed into the hands of the…

Questions to the First Minister
Everybody's meant to reflect apart from himself, it seems. Now, I can't let this question session pass either without highlighting some troubling attitudes from Labour towards the Senedd in recent days. The First Minister, we know, is totally dismissive of…

Questions to the First Minister
I wish the First Minister could see himself, I really, really do. And I'll read his words back to him: 'I regret the way that the last three months have been covered and reported'. 'I regret the way that the last three months have been covered and reported'…

Questions to the First Minister
Diolch yn fawr iawn, Llywydd. Now, since the Senedd passed that motion of no confidence, Labour Members have sought to excuse it away, even, yes, saying that it's other Members from opposition parties who are to blame for insisting on exercising our right to…

Plaid Cymru Debate: HS2 funding
When we debated HS2 last April, the then deputy climate change Minister, Lee Waters, said it was a scandal that Wales wasn't receiving its fair share of consequential funding. But arguably, the greatest scandal is that even in a general election…

Plaid Cymru Debate: HS2 funding
I would like to start in the spirit of glorying in the fact that there are some issues in this Senedd where we have more in common across parties than separates us. It's a cause of real pride that we as a Senedd had stated with one voice, a little over a year…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: The First Minister
Nobody here is beyond reproach. I've given much thought to what the context is in which I am speaking before the Senedd today. What are the standards by which we measure our political leaders? We could consider the seven Nolan principles of public life. Let's…

Welsh Conservatives Debate: The First Minister
In 25 years of devolution, we have been relatively fortunate that we've had few financial scandals infecting the politics here in the Senedd. We're fortunate that opposition parties have been able to scrutinise, disagree, yes, and co-operate, of course, but…

Debate: The Infected Blood Inquiry Report
It was an honour to be in London some weeks ago to listen to Sir Brian Langstaff announcing his final report. Julie Morgan was there as well, and so many of those who have been campaigning over the years in Wales. It was an extremely emotional event, with…

Questions to the First Minister
Of course, the First Minister did know about the convictions that had already been passed on the person that had given the £200,000. It's nearly a fortnight now since Rishi Sunak looked to the heavens in Downing Street and wished he had an umbrella, but here…

Questions to the First Minister
Perhaps the First Minister can clarify whether that means he plans to continue regardless of the result of the vote of no confidence in the Senedd tomorrow. But, once again, no contrition, no remorse, not the slightest acknowledgement by the First Minister…

Questions to the First Minister
Diolch yn fawr iawn, Llywydd. The First Minister has perhaps signalled his attitude towards the vote of no confidence in saying that it is non-binding, but I think we should take it seriously. It's a rare thing for the Senedd to hold votes of no confidence…

Topical Questions
I'm not the only one to have predicted that we were likely to get something in this election year for reasons of political expediency that sounded like an announcement that Wylfa was go. I must say, I didn't expect it to be as audacious as to announce it…

Topical Questions
Thank you very much for that response. I want to be positive because I have always worked positively to try and ensure that any development at Wylfa brings the greatest economic benefit, and that the interests of our communities in Ynys Môn are considered and…

3. What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the UK Government about designating Wylfa as the preferred site for developing a nuclear power station? TQ1096

Questions to the First Minister
I certainly agree with the First Minister that there are implications for all future leadership campaigns when it comes to setting caps on donations, but what the First Minister is absolutely rejecting to admit to is that it's his actions and his judgment…

Questions to the First Minister
I'm encouraged by the First Minister's comments in agreeing with me that we should continue to co-operate, of course, where there are areas where we share priorities. But I saw that he wanted to move fairly quickly on from the issue of the donations. We can't…

Questions to the First Minister
Another thing that did happen last week was an announcement that £31,000 left over from the £200,000 campaign donation from a convicted environmental polluter was being handed over to the Labour Party centrally. We're told today that it is being donated to…

Questions to the First Minister
Thank you, Llywydd. Last Friday I informed the First Minister that the Plaid Cymru group had decided to bring the co-operation agreement to an end. We on these benches are very proud of what was achieved through that agreement, and I emphasised to the First…

Questions to the First Minister
So, it's crossing fingers and hoping for the best. The bottom line is we can't allow the future of higher education in Wales to be at the mercy of Westminster, be that a Tory Government or, dare I say it, a Labour Government with Natalie Elphicke so warmly…

Questions to the First Minister
I agree with much of that description of the situation, though I would expect more of an urgent response to the crisis that we are facing. One element that the First Minister referred to, falling numbers of international students, certainly has had a…
