Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
Okay, thank you for that. I have two declarations of interest. So, petition P-06-1472, 'Protect our wildlife...ban plastic grass in Wales!', there was a reference in the pack from the Cabinet Secretary to the 'It’s for Them' project, which is about managing…

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Because energy is such a big topic, it would be great if we could have a—I suppose this is for the Business Committee—debate on this in the Chamber going forward, to have a strategic view on it as Members of the Senedd. There's a lot happening. But perhaps I…

Yes. Reduced energy bills.

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Just one more. So, in north Wales, I know that just standing charges are £336 and I'm told that it's because of the grid and connectivity. So, it's just that impact, again. Renewable energy: great and all this, but people want cheaper bills, so we need the…

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
I mentioned earlier—and Jennifer did—about community projects, which are really important, projects that are community owned, where they get that benefit, but none of these will happen unless we sort out the national grid. You know, proper renewable energy…

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Also, the Senedd's climate change committee were concerned that clause 5 requires the Secretary of State to prepare a statement of strategic priorities and just consult with the Welsh Ministers as well. They're really concerned about not being involved with…

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
It's just the concern about the lack of involvement from the devolved—from the Senedd as well—to discuss all these matters, really, when things are added on. Thank you, Chair.

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Great British Energy Bill: Evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
If I could just ask a question on that, when the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill came before us, that was looking, again, at giving power to the Secretary of State for Wales, and then, last minute, the NUAR, the national underground asset…

Local authorities talked about using the shared prosperity fund, because they haven't got the basic funds themselves. They are having to draw in grant funding from the shared prosperity fund, from Betsi Cadwaladr, or whatever. So, it sounds like there should…

And that sort of falls into the social prescribing agenda, again, doesn't it, which we talked about earlier, and the preventative role that sports and culture and arts are part of. So, with Jeremy Miles, you said you had—[Inaudible.] Of course, he's now the…

The new curriculum is about having more variety, isn't it—extending the school day. So, I suppose after-school activities, like netball and basketball, could be part of that, as well. I know that teachers are struggling, as well, so how do we make sure that…

Fergus, you talked about making swimming statutory, and we had local authorities in earlier that were concerned that, if sport or some leisure and arts are made statutory, as the Arts Council of Wales have called for, that needs to come with funding as well…

I was going to say the Welsh Government said that their budgets were £700 million less than when they were set in 2021, so we have to look at different ways, they're saying, as well, of delivering. But that impact is probably the same across—. Is it the same…

That leads me nicely on to my next question. If Sport Wales receive the same funding next year, in the next budget, as this year, and the cuts, basically, what impact would that have, then, on being able to deliver sports in Wales?

So, capital expenditure is really important as well as revenue, which was being discussed earlier.
