Historic Environment (Wales) Bill: Ministerial evidence session
Thank you very much. I'm grateful to you, Counsel General, for your time this afternoon. I'm quite excited by this, as you know. I think it's a great step forward in terms of how we order legislation in Wales and how we improve access to the statute book. I…

Inquiry on Welsh in Education Strategic Plans
That's my view as well, actually. Local authorities spend enough time sitting around in the Metropole in Llandrindod as it is. Surely, in the last 20 years, they would have learned something from each other.

Inquiry on Welsh in Education Strategic Plans
Thank you. So, we have seen some local authorities successfully putting forward WESPs that do work and some failing, and I presume that the majority of the others are somewhere in the middle. And it's clear from your responses that the current legislation is…

Inquiry on Welsh in Education Strategic Plans
Yes, I understand what you're getting at, but there's been a lot of discussion about what is a Welsh speaker, and I don't see that that's important, really, in this discussion. We're talking about education planning, we're talking about these strategic plans…

Inquiry on Welsh in Education Strategic Plans
Can I just cut across there, please? The question was whether the structure and the framework of the WESPs are sufficient. And what you've done is describe the variation in WESPs across the nation. Now, that tells me that the structure isn't sufficient…

Thank you. May I ask the witnesses whether they think that the framework and the structure of the WESPs is adequate to meet the target of a million Welsh speakers?

Business Statement and Announcement
Could I ask for a debate on our procedures here in this place? To my knowledge, we've had no review of procedures in this Senedd since the election last year, and I don't remember any serious review of such things in the previous Senedd either. We had an…

Papers to note
Thank you very much, Huw. We've heard of a number of occasions this afternoon where the UK Government is driving a coach and horses through the agreements that we have in place. Now, when the Counsel General, I think it was, brought the inter-governmental…

Questions to the Minister for Finance and Local Government
Thank you for raising that. Alongside the draft budget, which we published back in December, the chief economist did provide an update in terms of his assessment of the impact, which included the impact of Brexit, and I would commend that to all colleagues…

Questions to the Minister for Finance and Local Government
I accept that Minister, but, sometimes, I think we place too much emphasis on simply spending. My question was about how we raise funds as well. The UK Government's obsession with austerity has created real significant structural problems in the economy. But…

Statement by the Minister for Economy: Border Controls
I'm grateful to you, Deputy Presiding Officer. I'm grateful to you, Minister, for your statement this afternoon, although I have to say I do fear that it's a Titanic waste of your and our time. You've talked about the checks that had been delayed in April…

Business Statement and Announcement
Could I ask for a statement, Minister, from the health Minister on the care provided to teenage cancer patients? I was contacted last week by the family of a teenager, an 18-year-old young woman in Blaenau Gwent, who is undergoing some very distressing…

Participation in sport in disadvantaged areas: Evidence session with the Welsh Government
—and we need to hold you to account for that. So, we need to ensure that we understand where we are today, and this is where I think targets are important, because I think it is important, then, for the Government to say where you want to be in five years'…

I think this is an important conversation, because we've had some very important commitments from the Minister this afternoon in terms of funding policy, and I think it's important that we are able to understand the consequences of that decision making and…

That would be—. We don't need to go there. It's fantastic to see Glamorgan, for example, giving away tickets to loads of schools to enable children to experience first-class cricket. It's great to see Sophia Gardens with children's voices around, and to reach…

Participation in sport in disadvantaged areas: Evidence session with the Welsh Government
Within different communities, of course, we also know that there are parts of the population who have multiple elements of disadvantage. When I think of different parts of Blaenau Gwent and elsewhere, I'm looking at how we ensure that people have the…

The FAW gave evidence to us earlier and they described Wales as a 'shocker' when it comes to facilities and that grass-roots facilities are absolutely disgraceful. I'm sure you saw the reports and read the transcript. I hope that you have been talking to the…

I don't disagree with that. I've seen the improvements that have happened in Blaenau Gwent in different times and I've worked with clubs to deliver some of that at different times—I accept that. But there's still a differential, which I'm focused on.

Almost all of those things are delivered in wealthier areas in a way that they're not delivered in poorer areas. That's at the heart of my problem. I don't disagree with you.

It would be useful if the Minister could speak to her colleague to actually understand how that policy is being delivered in different parts of the country, because I'm not convinced it is being delivered equally across the country.
