What assessment has the Welsh Government made of whether the current legislative framework, governance arrangements and data-sharing arrangements are sufficient to support the delivery of a comprehensive single digital health and social care record across Wales, and does it anticipate that further legislation will be required?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
Working with NHS Wales, the Welsh Government is committed to improving the sharing of information across health and social care through programmes such as Connecting Care.
A core component of the programme is the Integrated Care Record (ICR), which will bring together health and care information into a single digital view. This will support more efficient and secure access to relevant patient information, informed clinical decision-making, and a more joined-up, person-centred health and care system.
This work is underpinned by existing legislation, information governance requirements, and data-sharing frameworks. Consideration of the legislative framework, governance arrangements, and data-sharing requirements necessary to support delivery across Wales is embedded within the ongoing development of the programme.
