Has the Welsh Government modelled the economic impact, including on local employment, supply chains and the visitor economy, of a region losing its professional rugby team?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy (Adam Price)
The Welsh Government has not undertaken modelling or impact assessments of a region losing its professional rugby team. We are, however, aware of assessments undertaken by the respective local authorities.
The Welsh Rugby Union is an independent governing body and decisions relating to professional rugby in Wales are matters for the WRU and the clubs concerned. Therefore, it is for the WRU in the first instance, to assess the implications of any proposed changes and to explain the evidence and analysis underpinning its decisions.
