Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Public and Preventative Health (Nerys Evans)
Tackling health inequalities is a priority for this Government. We are committed to improving housing, tackling poverty, supporting healthy communities and increasing access to preventative services, to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to live a healthy life, regardless of where they live.
The Health Impact Assessment (Wales) Regulations 2025, come into force in April 2027, and will ensure public bodies consider the impact of their decisions on population health and health inequalities.
We are also taking forward the Health Equity Wales programme, applying the internationally recognised Marmot principles to reduce health inequalities. Cardiff is one of the early adopter areas working with us and places across Wales to strengthen leadership, improve collaboration, listen to communities and drive evidence-based action on the wider determinants of health.
