What consideration has the Cabinet Minister given to introducing a broader national performance dashboard alongside waiting-list statistics, including measures of diagnostic access, referral rates, deterioration while waiting, emergency admission while waiting and patient outcomes?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Minister for Health and Care (Mabon ap Gwynfor)
The Welsh Government recognises the value of a broad range of performance measures alongside waiting time statistics. Diagnostic waiting time data are already published through StatsWales Diagnostic services: pathway waiting times, grouped weeks waiting, October 2009 onwards | StatsWales, while NHS Wales also uses a wider set of management information, including referral activity, demand trends and operational performance to support service delivery. NHS Wales organisations own this information.
However, not all management information is collected or assured to the standards required for publication as official statistics. Any expansion of national performance reporting would need to ensure data are sufficiently robust, consistent and meet the standards of trustworthiness, quality and value required for accredited official statistics by the Office for Statistics Regulation.
