I am writing to request that the Senedd schedule a debate on the national‑security, civilian‑protection, and long‑term resilience implications of siting any future modular nuclear reactors (MNRs) in Wales.
Rhagor o fanylion
I ask the Senedd to consider requiring that any MNR installations in Wales be constructed within reinforced, partially or fully sub‑surface protective structures. Such an approach would increase national resilience, protect critical infrastructure, safeguard civilian populations, strengthen long‑term energy stability, and align with best‑practice strategic risk planning.
This proposal is not based on alarmism but on prudent, responsible planning. Wales has an opportunity to lead the UK in adopting a forward‑looking, civilian‑centred approach to nuclear‑energy resilience — one that protects communities, strengthens national security, and ensures that our energy infrastructure remains robust in any future scenario.
This would at least increase security for all present and future generations of Wales and the U.K.
